TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

While preserving your natural teeth is always our priority, there are occasions where extensive decay or significant bone loss means a tooth can no longer be predictably restored.

In situations where a tooth cannot be saved, gentle extraction may be recommended to protect your overall oral health and comfort. Your dentist will always discuss the reasoning and available options with you fully and transparently.

Where a more complex surgical approach is required, your care will be entrusted to our experienced oral surgeon. This ensures treatment is carried out with the highest level of precision, safety, and clinical excellence, delivering the best possible outcome for your long-term oral health.

FAQs
What happens when I lose a tooth?

Before any tooth is removed, we will carefully discuss the implications of the extraction and the options available for managing the resulting space. Depending on your preferences and clinical suitability, choices may include leaving the space, replacing the tooth with a dental implant, a bridge, or a removable denture.
The benefits and considerations of each option will be clearly explained, allowing you to make a fully informed decision that aligns with your long-term goals.
Where appropriate and with advance planning, we can also provide immediate temporary solutions — such as a provisional denture or temporary bridge — so you can leave House of Smiles without a visible gap.

Does it hurt?

Your comfort is our highest priority. Prior to the extraction, the area will be thoroughly numbed to ensure the procedure is carried out as gently and comfortably as possible. You may feel some pressure during the treatment, which is entirely normal.
Following the procedure, mild post-operative discomfort can be expected but is typically well managed with routine pain relief. You will be provided with detailed aftercare instructions to support smooth healing and optimal recovery.
