LIP FILLER
Home / Lip Filler
What happens during a lip filler procedure?
To ensure comfort, a topical numbing cream is usually applied prior to treatment. Your clinician will then carefully place small amounts of premium hyaluronic acid filler into the lips using a very fine needle.
The treatment is performed with precision and artistry to enhance shape, symmetry and hydration while maintaining a natural appearance. Gentle massage may be performed to ensure the filler is evenly distributed before you leave the clinic.
When will I see the results of my lip filler?
Results are visible immediately after treatment. However, the lips will initially appear swollen due to normal post-treatment inflammation.
The final, settled result is best assessed at around 2 weeks, once the filler has fully integrated with the lip tissue and any swelling has resolved.
Are there any side effects?
It is normal to experience mild to moderate swelling during the first 24–48 hours. Swelling can occasionally peak the day after treatment and may be temporarily uneven as the lips settle.
As healing progresses, the lips typically reduce in size by approximately 30–50% as swelling subsides. Minor tenderness or bruising may also occur but usually resolves within a few days.
What happens at my consultation?
Your journey at House of Smiles begins with a confidential, no-obligation consultation. During this appointment we will:
• Discuss your concerns and desired lip shape
• Assess lip proportions and facial harmony
• Review your medical history
• Explain the treatment process and aftercare
This ensures your treatment is safe, appropriate and fully tailored to you.
Can lip fillers be used to correct asymmetry?
Yes — lip fillers are highly effective for improving asymmetry and restoring balance between the upper and lower lip. Many patients choose treatment specifically to refine uneven shape while maintaining a natural look.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends entirely on your starting point and desired outcome.
At House of Smiles, we often recommend a gradual, staged approach to building volume. Adding filler progressively helps maintain natural proportions and reduces the risk of overfilling or product migration.
Your clinician will advise on the most appropriate treatment plan during your consultation.
