DERMAL FILLERS
Home / Dermal Fillers
What is the difference between wrinkle correction and dermal fillers?
Wrinkle correction treatments work by gently relaxing the facial muscles responsible for expression lines. Dermal fillers, by contrast, restore volume beneath the skin to smooth folds and enhance contours.
In many cases, both treatments can be strategically combined to achieve the most balanced and natural rejuvenation.
How soon will I see results?
Results are visible immediately after treatment. However, the filler typically settles fully within 2–3 weeks, at which point the final refined result can be appreciated.
What happens at my consultation?
Your journey at House of Smiles begins with a confidential, in-depth consultation. During this appointment we will:
• Discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals
• Assess your facial anatomy
• Review your medical history
• Explain the treatment process and aftercare
This ensures your treatment plan is fully personalised and clinically appropriate.
How should I prepare for treatment?
• Please attend with make-up removed where possible
• Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and blood-thinning supplements for 24 hours prior (unless medically prescribed)
If you are taking prescribed anticoagulants, please continue as directed — suitability will be assessed individually.
Treatment may need to be postponed if you have:
• Active skin infection, acne or cold sores
• Current illness (cold, flu or viral symptoms)
What should I avoid after treatment?
For optimal results, please follow these aftercare guidelines:
• Do not touch or massage treated areas
• Sleep on your back the first night where possible
• Avoid make-up for 12 hours
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
• Avoid strenuous exercise and extreme temperatures for 48 hours
• Avoid sunbeds and saunas for 2 weeks
